Overview
The Test of Early Reading Ability – Fourth Edition (TERA-4; Reid, Hresko, & Hammill, 2017) is an individually-administered, norm-referenced test that assesses early-developing reading skills in young children 4 years to 8 years, 11 months. An overall reading ability score, the General Reading Index, is a composite score from three subtests. Subtests include Alphabet (measuring knowledge of the alphabet and its uses); Conventions (measuring knowledge of the conventions of print); and Meaning (measuring the construction of meaning from print). Two different forms are available. Online Scoring and Reporting is an option for TERA-4 users.
